The 10-Week Sewing & Textile Upcycling Program is a hands-on skills training initiative open to youth and adults ages 14+, designed to teach sewing, clothing repair, and creative textile upcycling. The program blends practical skill-building with sustainability, creativity, and confidence-building in a supportive learning environment.
Over the course of 10 weeks, participants will learn sewing fundamentals, garment repair, alterations, and basic pattern work while exploring how textile upcycling reduces waste and supports the circular economy. Participants will work with donated fabrics and clothing, transforming discarded materials into functional and creative pieces.
The program also highlights the environmental impact of fast fashion and introduces sustainable alternatives, helping participants understand how repairing and reusing textiles contributes to waste reduction and environmental responsibility. Alongside technical skills, participants build problem-solving abilities, creativity, and hands-on confidence that can support future employment, entrepreneurship, or personal use.
This program is beginner-friendly and facilitated in an inclusive, community-centered space.
