Building a Foundation for Change: VOHRC’s Commitment to Youth and Community

At the Vision of Hope Resource Centre (VOHRC), we know that lasting change is only possible when communities come together. As a Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organization in Brampton, we are deeply connected to the youth, families, and partners who make up our vibrant city.

This year, we launched a needs assessment to better understand the legal and social needs of Black and racialized youth. One thing became clear right away: collaboration is essential. That’s why we are reaching out to young people, caregivers, and community partners to gather their experiences, insights, and recommendations.

By listening to the voices of those directly impacted, as well as the organizations already working in this space, we can gain a clearer picture of what’s working, where the gaps are, and how we can strengthen our collective impact.

VOHRC’s role is to bring these voices together and turn insight into action. With strong community relationships, we are uniquely positioned to lead this work in a way that is grounded in lived experience. Our goal is simple: to create programs and solutions that reflect the real needs of youth and families in Brampton.

We are confident that this process will lay the foundation for impactful programs that address unmet needs and build a stronger future. With the support of the Law Foundation of Ontario and our dedicated partners, we are committed to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for all.
